Effort-based billing is hard to predict
Replit bills by agent effort: the more work it does, the more you pay, and hosting comes out of the same credit pot. Fair in theory, uncomfortable in practice, because you cannot know the cost before you ask — and the same request can cost different amounts on different days.
On CodeMago the effort is your choice, made up front: fast, balanced or maximum. The balance sits in the dashboard, the quota is monthly, and hosting a published app does not eat the same balance you build with.
An IDE is not an advantage if you never open the IDE
Replit's strength is the environment: terminal, files, PostgreSQL, deploys, all in one place, with you writing code next to the AI. For people who code, that is excellent.
For people who don't, it is a screen full of things that mean nothing — and each of them is a chance to get stuck. CodeMago shows no files by default: you talk, you watch the preview, you publish. Anyone who wants the other path has the Coding plans, with the agent running on their own machine.
When Replit is the right choice
If you code and want to write alongside the agent, Replit is a better tool for that than any conversational builder, ours included.
If your project needs server processes, scheduled jobs or a PostgreSQL database you administer yourself, Replit covers that and we do not.
