CodeMago against the other AI app builders

When you are picking an AI app builder, the question that decides it is not which interface looks nicest — it is how much work you can get done in a month before you hit the ceiling, and what that costs. There is one page per competitor below, with their price checked on their own pricing page and the arithmetic done in front of you.

CodeMago or Lovable: the comparison with the arithmetic shownLovable is the best-known platform in this category, and it is good. But it counts your limit in one-size-fits-all messages and leaves database, login and domain to you. If you are looking at the price, the maths is worth checking before you subscribe.CodeMago or Bolt.new: tokens, credits and what is left at month's endBolt.new is fast — from prompt to working URL it is probably the fastest in the category. The question is what happens after the first week, when the app grows and every message carries a bigger project with it.CodeMago or Replit: two different ideas of who is on the other side of the screenReplit is a full development environment with an agent inside it. CodeMago is an app builder you talk to. The difference is not quality — it is who each was built for, and that decides which one will frustrate you less.CodeMago or Base44: one credit currency, not twoBase44 is a capable builder, now part of Wix. The difference that shows up most at the end of the month is not the quality of the app that comes out: it is that there you manage two separate credit currencies, and here, one.CodeMago or v0: a beautiful component is not a working appVercel's v0 generates the best-finished interface in the category — it is the best on the market at turning a description into a good-looking Next.js screen. The catch is that a screen is not an app: what stores the data, what knows who the user is and what puts it online with an address are all still missing.CodeMago or Claude Pro: an hour-window limit against a monthly quotaClaude is one of the best language models there is — it is one of the models running behind this platform on the Maximum tier. This comparison is not about model quality: it is about what you get in a month and what you are left holding at the end.CodeMago or ChatGPT: code on a screen against a working appYou can ask ChatGPT for an application and get working code back. The question almost nobody asks first is: and then what? Because between code in a chat window and an app your customer can open on their phone there is a whole road, and that road is where most projects stop.

Three things that change the maths

The unit of the limit. Some count messages, some count tokens, some count “agent effort”. Different units don't compare directly, which is why most comparison tables on the internet tell you nothing. Each page below explains what their unit means in practice.

Whether spend follows the work. A flat credit per message means a one-word tweak costs the same as a full rebuild. Usage-based credit means the small request is cheap — and it changes how you work, because you stop batching everything into one giant prompt.

What is already included. Database, login and a custom address: on some platforms these are third-party services you sign up for and configure separately, each with its own bill. Here they come with the plan.

What this site will not do

We won't tell you the competitors are bad. Lovable, Bolt and Replit are good products with large teams, and every page below has a section saying when the right choice is them — because it is true, and because you would find out anyway.

We also won't invent numbers. Every competitor price here was checked on their official page, carries the date it was checked, and links back so you can redo the check. Prices change; the date is there so you know when to start doubting.

Frequently asked questions

What is the cheapest Lovable alternative?

Entry price here is US$ 18 a month against Lovable Pro at US$ 25 — and it goes further: 375 messages against 72 for the same money, 5.2x more. That sum uses the priciest model in our chain, so it is the floor. The full arithmetic is on the Lovable page.

Is there an AI app builder with unlimited credits?

No honest one. Every request costs someone real money in model usage, and anyone promising “unlimited” is either rate-limiting you silently or running a model too weak to be useful. What we do instead is make the credit equal real usage, so you can see exactly where it goes.

Can I migrate an app I built on another platform?

There is no automatic import. What works in practice is describing what the app does and letting the AI rebuild it — usually faster than adapting another generator's code.
